Sharma is credited with pioneering Microsoft’s entry into mobile media in the early 2000s. He created a joint venture with Verizon Wireless who became the first company in the US to launch high bitrate video streaming (VCast) over mobile phones. Following its success, he setup a global team to forge similar telecom partnerships to proliferate Windows Media audio, video and Digital Rights Management (DRM within cybersecurity) technologies to content, phone manufacturers and chipsets. Other corporate endeavors include running the largest P&L at Samsung Mobile and third-party retail at Comcast.
Sharma has also found himself at the bleeding edge of the startup scene over the last 3 decades. He has been deeply involved advising or founding startups in cybersecurity, logistics, mobile media and digital healthcare. Of note, he was a Senior Vice President at PacketVideo which is recognized as having the very first playback of video over a 14.4 kilobyte wireless connection. He also served as the SVP and Chief Commercial Officer at nuVizz, an umbrella logistics company where he helped found Workllama, an AI based crowdsourcing platform. A startup which was later acquired was Pinn, a cybersecurity solution based on passwordless multifactor authentication.
His personal passions are working with organizations on high performance employee productivity, guest lecturing at local Atlanta universities and collaborating with non-profits focused on providing the foundational support for impoverished communities (education, food, mental health).
